October Rhymes and Songs

This month we will be talking about Autumn and Harvest. We will be thinking about what happens at this time of year and what the weather is like. Here are some of the songs we will be singing in school. We hope you enjoy singing them with your child.

Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down

(Tune: London Bridge is falling down)

Autumn leaves are falling down
Falling down, falling down!
Autumn leaves are falling down
Autumn leaves.

Repeat with:

-Get a brush and brush them up etc

-Get a shovel and lift them up etc

-Lift the lid and put them in etc

-Now our path is nice and clean etc

I Hear Thunder

I hear thunder,

I hear thunder,

Hark don't you?

Hark don't you?

Pitter-patter raindrops,

Pitter-patter raindrops,

I'm wet through,

So are you.

The Leaves on the trees

(Tune: 'The Wheels on the Bus')

The leaves on the trees turn orange and brown,
orange and brown, orange and brown.
The leaves on the trees turn orange and brown,
All through the town.

The leaves on the trees come swirling down,
swirling down, swirling down.
The leaves on the trees come swirling down.
All through the town.

The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish,
Swish, swish, swish.
The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish,
All through the town.

I’m A Little Scarecrow

I’m a little scarecrow, stuffed with hay.

Here I stand in a field all day.

When I see the crows,
 I like to shout,

"Hey! You crows, you better get out!"

I’m a Little Pumpkin

(To the tune of 'I’m a little teapot.')

I’m a little pumpkin, short and stout.

Filled up with seeds that you can scrape out.

When you are all finished, then I’ll be,

The cutest pumpkin face you ever did see!

Little Ghost

I saw a little ghost

And he saw me too

When I said “Hi”

He said “Boo!”

Pit Pat

Pit, pat, pit, pat,

Listen to the raindrops.

Pit, pat, pit, pat,

On a rainy day.

Pit, pat, pit, pat,

Listen to the raindrops.

That’s what my fingers say.

Rat, tat, rat, tat,

Listen to the Postman.

Rat, tat, rat, tat,

Merry on his way.

Rat, tat, rat, tat,

Listen to the Postman,

That’s what my fingers say.

Flip, flap, flip, flap,

Listen to the birdies.

Flip, flap, flip, flap,

Fluttering away.

Flip, flap, flip, flap,

Listen to the birdies,

That’s what my elbows say.

The Frisky Little Squirrel

Sing to 'The Grand Old Duke of York'

Oh, the frisky little squirrel,

He gathers nuts and seeds.

He hides them for the winter time,

So he has all he needs.

Oh up, up, up he goes

And down the tree he comes.

He runs around, climbs up and down,

His work is never done.

Little Jackie Jack Frost

Little Jackie, Jack Frost, bites my toes.

Little Jackie, Jack Frost, stings my nose.

Little Jackie, Jack Frost, climbs the trees.

Little Jackie, Jack Frost, paints the leaves.

Little Jackie, Jack Frost, thinks it’s fun,

Knocking all the leaves down- one by one.

When the winter wind begins to blow

Little Jackie, Jack Frost runs away- Ho Ho!
