November Rhymes and Songs

This month we will be learning about wild animals. We will talk about where they live and look at their characteristics such as spots, stripes, trunks etc. We hope you enjoy learning and singing these songs with your child.

The Elephant

The elephant goes like this and that,

He’s terribly big and he’s terribly fat,

He has no fingers, he has no toes,

But goodness gracious, what a nose!

I Went To Visit A Zoo One Day.

I went to visit a zoo one day,

I saw a lion across the way.

What do you think I heard him say?

“Roar, Roar, Roar!”

Repeat with :

Snake- hiss

Bear- growl

Monkeys- oh oh oh.

5 Little Monkeys

5 little monkeys jumping on the bed,

One fell off and bumped his head,

Mummy called the doctor and the doctor said,

“No more monkeys jumping on the bed.”

Repeat with 4,3,2,1,

The Animals In the Wild

(To the tune of The Wheels on the Bus)

The lions in the wild go Roar, Roar, Roar,

Roar, Roar, Roar

Roar, Roar, Roar

The lions in the wild go Roar, Roar, Roar.

All day long!

Repeat with:

Snakes- Hiss

Hyenas- Ha Ha Ha

Monkeys- Oh Oh Oh

Crocodile- Snap Snap Snap

She Sailed Away

She sailed away on a lovely summer’s day, on the back of a crocodile.

“You see,” said she, “He’s as tame as tame can be, I’ll float him down the Nile.”

Oh the croc winked his eye as the lady waved goodbye, wearing a happy smile.

At the end of the ride, the lady was inside and the smile was on the crocodile!

5 Little Monkeys Swinging on a Tree

(To the tune of 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed)

5 little monkeys swinging in a tree,

Teasing Mr Crocodile-

“ You can’t catch me!”

Along comes the crocodile as quiet as can be,

Then SNAP goes the crocodile, oh dear me!

Repeat counting down to 4,3,2,1

We Are Going to The Zoo

(To the tune of London’s Bridge is falling down)

We are going to the zoo, to the zoo, to the zoo

We are going to the zoo, “Will you join us too?”

We’ll see lions, tigers too, tigers too, tigers too.

We’ll see lions, tigers too, at the zoo.

We will find some chimpanzees, chimpanzees, chimpanzees.

We will find some chimpanzees, swinging in the trees.

We will look for zebras too, zebras too, zebras too.

We will look for zebras too, at the zoo.
