January Rhyme Sheet

This month we will be learning about Winter and talking about how the weather changes. We will also be learning about Polar Lands. Enjoy singing these rhymes at home with your child. Why not let them teach them to you?

 A Chubby Little Snowman

A chubby little snowman had a carrot nose.

Along came a rabbit and what do you suppose?

That hungry little bunny, looking for his lunch,

He ate the snowman's nose,

Nibble, nibble, CRUNCH!

5 Little Snowmen

5 little snowmen all made of snow,

5 little snowmen standing in a row.

Out came the sun and it shone all day,

1 little snowman melted away.

(Repeat with 4,3,2,1 counting down using fingers)

Ten Snowflakes

One little, two little, three little snowflakes.

Four little, five little, six little snowflakes.
Seven little, eight little, nine little snowflakes.

Ten little snowflakes sitting on my tongue.

(Count up using fingers for each number.)

I'm A Little Snowman

(To the tune of I'm A Little Teapot)

I'm a little snowman, short and fat.

Here are my buttons, here is my hat.

When the sun comes out, I run away,

Before I slowly melt away!

Snowball

I made myself a snowball,

As perfect as could be.

I thought I'd keep it as a pet

And let it sleep with me.

I made it some pyjamas

And a pillow for its head.

Then last night it ran away,

But first it wet the bed!

Brown Bear's Snoring

Brown Bear's snoring, Brown Bear's snoring,

In his winter sleep.

Brown Bear's snoring, Brown Bear's snoring,

In his winter sleep.

The snow and ice are melting, icicles are dropping.

Brown Bear's ears are listening and his eyes begin to peep...

Snowflakes

(Tune: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

Snowflakes are so hard to hold,

They make our hands and fingers cold.

Down they float so light and bright,

Making trees and fields so white.

Snowflakes are so hard to hold,

They make your hands and fingers cold.

Little Jacky Jack Frost

Little Jacky Jack Frost bites my nose.

Little Jacky Jack Frost stings my toes.

Little Jacky Jack Frost climbs the trees.

Little Jacky Jack Frost paints the leaves.

Little Jacky Jack Frost thinks it's fun,

Knocking all the leaves down one by one.

But when the winter wind begins to blow,

Little Jacky Jack Frost runs away!

Ho ho!

Little Penguins

Little penguins black and white

On the ice, Oh what a sight!

See them waddle, see them glide.

Watch them as they slip and slide.

Little penguins black and white,

On the ice, Oh what a sight!

Paddling In The Puddles

Paddling in the puddles, paddling in the puddles,

Paddling in the puddles, but don't let Mummy see!

See the raindrops falling down, cleaning up the dirty town.

Making all the gutters full, as the children go to school.

Paddling in the puddles, paddling in the puddles,

Paddling in the puddles, but don't let Mummy see!

(Repeat with splashing in the puddles.)
