February Rhymes and Songs

This month we will be learning about farm animals. We will also be talking about the Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. Enjoy singing these at home with your child.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Baa Baa black sheep

Have you any wool?

Yes Sir, Yes Sir

Three bags full.

One for the Master.

And one for the Dame,

And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.

Baa Baa white sheep,

Have you any wool?

Yes Sir, Yes Sir

Three needles full.

One to mend a jumper,

One to mend a frock,

And one for the little girl

With holes in her sock.

Old MacDonald had a Farm

Old MacDonald had a farm,

E I E I O

And on that farm he had a cow.

E I E I O

With a moo moo here and a moo moo there,

Here a moo, there a moo,

Everywhere a moo moo.

Old MacDonald had a farm

E I E I O.

(Repeat with horse, dog, pig, sheep, duck etc.)

Little Bo Peep

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep

And doesn’t know where to find them.

Leave them alone and they will come home

Wagging their tails behind them.

I Went to Visit a Farm

I went to visit a farm one day

I saw a cow across the way.

And what do you think I heard it say?

Moo Moo Moo

Repeat with sheep, pig, duck, horse, donkey etc.

Chinese Dragon

(To the tune of Frere Jacques)

Chinese dragon, Chinese dragon,

Breathing fire, breathing fire,

Happy Happy New Year, Happy, Happy New year!

Gung Hay Phat Choi, Gung Hay Phat Choi.

(Chinese for Happy New Year.)

5 Little Ducks

5 little ducks went swimming one day,

Over the hills and far away.

Mother Duck said “ Quack, Quack, Quack, Quack,”

But only 4 little ducks came back.

Repeat and count down to 1.

None of the little ducks came back.

Sad Mother Duck went swimming one day.

Over the hill and far away.

Mother Duck said “Quack, Quack, Quack, Quack,"

And her 5 little ducks came swimming back.

(Encourage your child to count down from 5 using their fingers as we will be doing this in nursery.)

Driving My Tractor

Driving my tractor down the bumpy road

And in my trailer there’s a heavy load.

There’s a black and white cow saying “Moo, Moo, Moo.”

It’s a very busy day.

Chorus: chug, chug, clank, clank, toot. (X2) It’s a very busy day.

Repeat with:

2 grey donkeys saying“ Bray, Bray, Bray.”

3 pink pigs saying “ Oink, Oink, Oink.”

4 white lambs saying “Baa, Baa, Baa.”

5 brown chickens saying “ Cluck, Cluck, Cluck.”

Driving my tractor down the bumpy road

The trailer hit a stone and it shook my load.

The animals fell out and they ran away.

It’s a very busy day.

Driving my tractor back home again.

Chugging along down the bumpy lane.

I get to the farm and what do I see?

All of the animals waiting on me!
